About Me

Hi! I'm Douglas Trueman, an award-winning author and cross-industry freelance writer and editor. If you're writing or editing a piece and you're lost for words, you've come to the right place.

I can compose or edit any style of writing from corporate to creative, and have published hundreds of pieces including novels, newspaper editorials, technical guides, white papers, and press releases. My writing career has taken me from Los Angeles to Prague to Berlin and Vancouver. Along the way I interviewed the casts of X-Men United and Aliens vs. Predator and wrote a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant that was awarded $186,000 for a university in Ontario.

I've edited PhD theses, been a co-author on several published academic articles, written successful application letters for universities, been published in The Globe and Mail and The National Post, broken down complex technical procedures into layman's terms, worked as a teaching assistant for an undergrad communications class, and have hundreds of website and magazine articles to my name.

I have an English B.A. (University of Calgary), a Master's in Creative Writing (Honours with Distinction, City University, London), and a Master's in Professional Communications (Ryerson), so no matter the project I've got you covered.
